One
of the strategic goals of ELTC is to undertake
research that impacts classroom practices.
One of the strategies to achieve this goal
is to inculcate a research culture among the
English teachers to be reflective practitioners.
This course focuses on the practitioners and
the improvement of their practice as a form
of on-going professional development. Course
participants will be encouraged to make informed
selection of suitable forms of research in
their own teaching contexts. The course aims
at bridging the gap many practicing teachers
face in their attempts to link theory to practice.
In becoming reflective practitioners, they
will be able to build on their professional
expertise autonomously by using theory mediated
within their continuing practice.
This action research course is divided into
two parts. Part I comprises the theoretical
aspects of action research while Part II comprises
the practical aspects of action research.
Course participants who have completed Part
I return to their respective schools to implement
the action plan they had planned over a month
period. After this one month implementation
stage in school, course participants return
to complete Part II of the course.
