PowerPoint for ELT Trainers
Introduction
The world of ICT offers many opportunities for innovation by teachers. Every development in ICT has a potential role in the language classroom waiting to be explored and defined. Just as ICT is becoming more ubiquitous in our daily lives, it is similarly becoming more significant in our schools. It is therefore imperative that classroom practitioners keep abreast of advancements in ICT. This course is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to get better acquainted with Microsoft PowerPoint as a presentation and teaching tool. Activities chosen for the course serve to highlight practical and productive ideas for using Microsoft PowerPoint in supporting language instruction.

Rationale
Notebook computers have been provided to many English language teachers as part of the Ministry of Education's efforts to enhance the teaching of English. Microsoft PowerPoint presentation software is ubiquitous since it is packaged with all of these notebooks. Microsoft PowerPoint is a very robust program that allows users to create exciting presentations. Also, Microsoft PowerPoint is relatively easy to master compared to other more sophisticated authoring tools. This ubiquity and ease-of-operation provides the rationale for equipping ELT trainers with the skills necessary to use PowerPoint for designing and developing multimedia courseware applets for language teaching.
