This
course aims to help teachers develop
skills and confidence in selecting and
adapting materials appropriate to the
learning needs of their students. Participants
get to apply the selection criteria
arrived at by evaluating a wide range
of materials. They subsequently practice
adapting materials for specific learning
groups. The anticipated outcomes of
this course include greater student
interest and more effective learning.

This will be in the form of
group assignments to produce teacher-created
materials for classroom use that incorporate
the principles of evaluation and adaptation.
Each group has to produce:

A review of at least five textbooks
and workbooks and recommend their suitability
using any of the evaluation criteria given

Two sets of reading texts, each
containing a simplified version and a more
complex version of text and supporting activities

Three graded teaching/learning
tasks from lower to higher levels for listening,
speaking and writing skills
