The Department
of Assessment and Evaluation is one of seven
departments in the English Language Teaching
Centre (EL TC), Malaysia. It is in a formative,
embryonic state but in spite of this, senior
team members have accepted invitations to
sit on various committees headed by other
agencies of the Ministry of Education to contribute
to the formulation and development of various
assessment instruments both for public examinations
for students in the national education system
as well as those related to, teacher education,
professional development, and incentives and
promotion for professionals in the Education
Service.
We also see ourselves collaborating and assuming
supporting roles in other projects under the
purview of other Departments in ELTC. For
example, we have been directly involved in
the design and construction of the Pre- and
Post-Test as well as the Diagnostic Test for
the English for the Teaching of Mathematics
and Science (ETeMS) Project.
