Should
I teach grammar explicitly?
Is reading aloud allowed?
How can I use this digital courseware
in my language lessons?
Is it too early to introduce text structures
to my Year 6 pupils?
What is an effective way to teach summary
writing?
How do I set up a resource centre for
both teachers and students?
Why can't my students write well?
How do I plan and manage a language
programme?
These are just some of the questions
that English language teachers face.
We understand how frustrating it can
be when we do no have someone around
to help us answer these questions. On
our training portal, we periodically
invite someone to field questions related
to a particular area in language education.
In our "Hotseat" are guests
who have had extensive experience in
the chosen focus areas. Our first guest
was none other than our former Director-General
of Education, Y, Bhg. Tan Sri Abdul
Rafi Mahat, who had kindly agreed to
respond queries on how to enhance classroom
teaching. Next, we had Ms Jean Floyd,
who has a wealth of expertise and experience
to share on the establishment and management
of resource centres.
We have lined up many more guests in
the future. Do join in the on-going
discussion in our Hotseat. All
you have to do is click on the
Hotseat button and submit your
questions or replies. It is as simple
as that! What's more, you can even start
a new thread of discussion (but related
to the chosen topic, of course) by posing
a new sub-topic!
Remember, you do need to register as
a user before you can submit replies
to our Hotseat guests. Register
today and enjoy a host of useful teacher
and learner resources on our portal,
other than our popular Hotseat!
